A sneak peek into Myriads media launch 2018 [insider report]
Let me tell you the story of how our team managed to climb the fence, trick security and sneak into the exclusive Myriad 2018 media launch. Alright, maybe it didn’t go down exactly like that, but we did receive some first-hand information from Brittany, a member of the Myriad team.
Brittany explained how the 2018 Myriads Media Launch had a great turn-out and huge success,
“With several online media outlets, representatives from Government, Qantas as well as Brisbane locals in the tech and startup space. We later aired on Channel 7, 9 & 5 with a preview of the speakers’ announcements.”
Let’s start with the announcement of the #MyriadAir competition. We asked Brittany what all the hype was about on Twitter around this #MyriadAir trend,
“We are on on the lookout for some influencers to come onboard #MyriadAir. Myriad Air is a private 747 charter full of Silicon Valley’s big names. We will be giving away two seats for an influencer to get on board and share their experience with their online tribe. This truly is a once in a lifetime experience!”
The prize package valued at $12,000 for the two lucky influencers is delivered in partnership with Queensland Government and Qantas. Myriad Air will bring more than 360 of the brightest minds from Silicon Valley to Queensland for the event.
Who’s on the 2018 lineup?
Steve Jurvetson:
Steve is mostly known for his involvement in Draper Fisher Jurvetson. He is a venture capitalist and previous investor in Hotmail. He also sits on the board of SpaceX, Tesla and Planet Labs.
Jodie Fox:
Jodie is the Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder of successful online fashion startup ‘Shoes of Prey’. She is one of the top 30 most influential women in Australian retail 2014, one of the top 10 Australian female entrepreneurs for 2014 and a finalist for the 2014 InStyle Audi Woman of Style awards.
Kelly Watkins:
Kelly is the Head of Global Marketing at Slack, where she oversees brand, product, platform, and growth marketing, as well as advertising, events, and editorial. Prior to Slack, Kelly was the VP of Marketing at Bugsnag, where she established the company as a leader in a growing product category.
Yael Esisenstat:
Yaël is a former CIA officer, national security advisor to Vice President Biden and diplomat turned public advocate. She has spent 17 years working at the intersection of political, social and security issues and focuses now on helping those outside of government contribute to solutions for many of the same kinds of challenges.
She is also an Adjunct Professor at NYU’s Center for Global Affairs and has been published in the New York Times, TIME and The Huffington Post, has appeared on CNN, CBS News, PBS and C-SPAN, in policy forums, and on a number of podcasts. Yaël was named to Forbes’ 2017 list of “40 Women to Watch Over 40”.
“It was great to share our #MyriadAir & speaker announcement to several media outlets. We had a great turn out & all the guests shared the same enthusiasm as us. It was a pleasure to host this event at the QUT Cube – their mega-screens were awesome for us to screen the #MyriadAir video”
We asked Brittany if she is able to get any sneaky hints on what design elements are expected for the Myriad Garage this year,
“The Myriad Garage will allow businesses to engage with new customers, gain feedback, generate leads and attract sales. A great place which will have you rubbing shoulders with global investors, corporate leaders and government representatives. Spots are limited for exhibitor spaces, so I would strongly recommend for any business owners out there, to secure a spot.”
